The Special Election for House of Representatives for District 47A is scheduled for Jan. 27. Voters on the western side of Woodbury and in South Maplewood will be filling the seat held by Sen. Amanda Hemmingsen-Jaeger.
Shelley Buck, who won the December DFL primary, is the only candidate on the ballot. Write-in votes are permitted but will only be tallied if the person named has completed a Write-in Candidate Request Form and filed it with the Minnesota Secretary of State’s Office by Jan. 8.
Absentee voting begins Jan. 7. Eligible voters can request a ballot online or submit a paper application.
Early in person voting also begins on Jan. 7. Woodbury voters can cast ballots at the new County Service Center 1261 Woodlane Drive (behind Kohl’s) at the following times:
Monday – Friday: 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Saturday, Jan. 24: 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Monday, Jan. 26: 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Pre-register or update your registration online by Jan. 21 or in person at the polls.
Those voting in person on Jan. 27 should check the location of their polling place as some Woodbury precincts are voting in alternate locations.
The Minnesota Legislature is set to convene Feb. 17, 2026 at noon with Woodbury fully represented.
