Hangry Chicken’s former Donegal Drive space won’t stay vacant for long. It will be filled by another poultry option, Official Chicken.
WNN reached out to Jared Brewington, founder of the eatery now serving fans at Target Field, but he has yet to respond. He previously operated Official Chicken at another Minneapolis location and is currently involved with a nonprofit group working toward an August opening of Square Roots, an Afro-Creole restaurant on Lake Street in Minneapolis.
Official Chicken’s motto, “Everything you want. As long as you want fried chicken and fries,” is already displayed at the new location. The restaurant has previously served broasted, bone-in fried chicken in regular, buffalo and barbecue varieties, as well as chicken tenders and a chicken sandwich. Its petal-shaped fries resemble jojo potatoes.
Shinhwa Korean Steakhouse is coming to 10th Street in Oakdale, across from Hy-Vee. The name means “legend,” and the restaurant offers all-you-can-eat Korean barbecue and hot pot. Management already operates restaurants in Roseville and Chicago.
Patrons choose ingredients from extensive lists and then cook the food themselves on either a traditional Korean grill built into the table or in a pot of bubbling broth. The menu includes familiar meats, seafood and vegetables, along with more unusual choices such as frog legs and quail eggs. Additional serving bars offer soft drinks, sauces, ice cream, snacks and fruit.
