An unexpected failure of a new water main pipe to maintain pressure has led to an extension of the construction timeline on Valley Creek Road between Dancing Waters Parkway and Woodbury Drive, according to the City of Woodbury.
The contractor is currently repairing the pipe. Once it can maintain water pressure, roadway and turf restoration can be completed. Estimates indicate this phase of construction will now last through early September.
Catalina Drive north of Valley Creek Road reopened to traffic after intermittent closures Tuesday and Wednesday, June 23 and 24. Lochaven Drive north of Valley Creek Road also experienced intermittent closures Tuesday, June 23.
Construction is moving ahead on Woodlane Drive, with concrete work beginning Thursday. Public Works staff remind drivers that the trucks and crews needed for this work will make the already tight spaces in the northern part of the project even more challenging. The traffic signal on Woodlane Drive in front of Woodbury High School was removed June 19, and temporary stop signs were installed in its place.
Looking ahead to Monday, the intersection of Woodlane Drive and Wooddale Drive is scheduled to close to eastbound and westbound traffic for two weeks. The southbound lane on Woodlane Drive through the intersection will remain open during the closure.
A temporary water shutoff will be needed to connect the new water main to the existing system in the area of Wooddale Drive and Courtly Road. This work is planned for Monday but may be accelerated to occur Thursday as scheduling permits. A 72-hour notice will be provided to all affected properties before the shutoff.
A stretch of westbound Interstate 94 in the east metro will close for nearly three days beginning Friday as part of a project to repair nine bridges spanning I-94 and I-35E in St. Paul, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
MnDOT plans to close westbound I-94 between Interstates 494 and 694 in Woodbury and I-35E in St. Paul so crews can paint bridges. The closure runs from 10 p.m. Friday, June 26, until 5 a.m. Monday, June 29. It is one of several planned this summer as part of the larger bridge repair project.
Part of the trail around the pond behind City Hall is closed due to construction of the Public Safety Building. The closure affects the east side of the trail around the pond, from just north of the Public Safety Building, 2100 Radio Drive, to just south of the building.
The stretch of Valley Creek Road between Woodcrest Drive and Settlers Ridge Parkway reopened to traffic Friday, June 19.
All other detours and closures remain in place.
