Juli Servatius filed a form with the Minnesota Secretary of State’s Office requesting that her write-in votes be counted for election to the vacant House seat in District 47A.
The Secretary of State confirmed that the required form was signed on Jan. 7 before the deadline on the following day.
Voters in western Woodbury and south Maplewood may recall Servatius’ name from her run for the seat in pre-election contests at the end of 2025.
She initially launched a petition drive running as a candidate of the “Moderates and Independents” party. After coming short of the necessary 500 signatures to pursue candidacy under the party, she sought the endorsement of the DFL to run for the seat as a democrat.
She failed to gain the endorsement and subsequently entered the DFL Primary. Servatius earned 41 votes, finishing third.
Shelley Buck, the endorsed DFL candidate and primary winner, is the only name on the official election ballot as no Republican officially entered the election for the 47A seat.
Early voting is underway ahead of the Jan. 27 election. Those wishing to cast a vote for Servatius will need to carefully write her name on their ballot as state law bans the use of stickers or other ways to add a candidate’s name.
