July 14-28 is the filing period for residents interested in running for local office in November.
Residents planning to vote before Election Day can do so at the Washington County Service Center. Additional election information and voting locations are available on the Washington County and City of Woodbury election webpages.
Woodbury Mayor and City Council
There will be one opening for mayor and two openings on the Woodbury City Council. To qualify, candidates must:
- Be eligible to vote in Minnesota.
- Be a U.S. citizen.
- Not be currently incarcerated for a felony conviction.
- Not be under a court order revoking the right to vote.
- Be at least 21 years old upon assuming office.
- Have maintained residence in the district for at least 30 days before the general election.
- Not have filed for another office at the upcoming primary or general election.
How to File
Candidates interested in running for mayor or City Council must submit a notarized affidavit of candidacy and a $40 filing fee, payable by cash or check, at Woodbury City Hall during business hours.
State law also allows candidates to forgo the filing fee by submitting a petition containing at least 500 signatures from Woodbury residents.

School Board
There are four open seats on the Stillwater Area Schools (ISD 834) Board of Education and three open seats on the North St. Paul-Maplewood-Oakdale Schools (ISD 622) Board of Education. South Washington County Schools (ISD 833) conducts school board elections in odd-numbered years and will not hold an election this year.
To qualify, school board candidates must:
- Be eligible to vote in Minnesota.
- Be a U.S. citizen.
- Not be currently incarcerated for a felony conviction.
- Not be under a court order revoking the right to vote.
- Be at least 21 years old upon assuming office.
- Not be a convicted sex offender.
- Have maintained residence in the district for at least 30 days before the general election.
- Not have filed for another office at the upcoming primary or general election.

Candidates interested in running for school board must submit a notarized affidavit of candidacy and a $2 filing fee, payable by cash or check, to the district clerk during business hours.
