Most establishments are closed on Dec. 25 with almost as many closing early the day before. Minnesota law requires liquor stores to close by 8 p.m. on Dec. 24 and remain shuttered through Christmas. It is wise to check before visiting because even open stores and restaurants may have shortened hours and last minute changes may be made to hours.
Government Offices
City offices (including M Health Fairview Sports Center) closed Dec. 24-25 and Jan. 1.
Central Park closes at 5 p.m. Dec. 24 and 31.
County offices and libraries closed Dec. 25 and Jan. 1.
Metro Transit will have reduced hours over the holidays.
Shipping and Mailing
Post Offices will be closed on Dec. 25 and Jan. 1 with only Priority Mail Express delivered.
UPS will not pick up or deliver on Dec. 25 and Jan. 1.
FedEx will shut down operations Dec. 25 and Jan. 1. Some locations close early on Dec. 31, so check your local station’s website.
Medical
Expect Clinics and Urgent Care sites to be closed on Dec. 25 and Jan. 1 and for some early closings on Dec. 24.
Walgreens Pharmacy at 1965 Donegal Drive is open 24 hours, even on holidays.
Pets
Oakdale ER and Urgency and Veterinary Emergency Group are open every day of the year.
Big Box Stores
Costco Closing on Dec. 24 at 5 p.m.
Sam’s Club Closing on Dec. 24 at 6 p.m.
Target Closing on Dec. 24 at 8 p.m.
Walmart Closing on Dec. 24 at 6 p.m.
All box stores will be closed through Christmas Day.
Grocery Stores
Dec. 24 hours as follows:
Aldi: Closes at 4 p.m.
Cub Foods: closes at 4 p.m.
Jerry’s Foods: closes at 4 p.m.
Kowalski’s: closes at 4 p.m.
Lunds & Byerlys: the grocery side will close at 4 p.m., while the wine and spirits side will close at 4:30 p.m.
Trader Joe’s: closes at 5 p.m.
Whole Foods: across Minnesota, stores are open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Open Cupboard Food Shelf: closed all day.
All mentioned stores will be closed on Dec. 25.
