Work to remove and restore pavement and curbing, as well as repair some underground utilities, begins April 20 in the Boulder Ridge neighborhood.
The project will move from north to south in the construction area, with completion scheduled for mid-October. No roads will be totally closed during the project, although Afton Road will be reduced to one lane.
City staff and construction companies are committed to regular communication with residents in the impacted area. An open house outlining all the steps in the process was held and can be viewed online. Residents can sign up for regular email updates on the project and alerts for changes in scheduling due to weather and other factors.
As individual parts of the neighborhood are impacted, door hangers will be placed on front doors or garage entrances with timely notices. There is also a project hotline number, 651-358-0076, which is a phone carried by a coordinator within the work zone. This number will be especially useful for residents with disabilities who may be challenged when construction interferes with access to their driveways.
As outlined at the open house, there will be disruptions in the neighborhood that impact access and mail delivery and may increase levels of dust. Not every house will be affected in the same way, as the repairs to the infrastructure on every street are not the same.
Most of the construction will be in the street itself, but it can extend 4-5 feet into the front yard. Residents will need to remove sprinklers, dog fences and other structures in the work zones.
