Pat Mack

Co-Editor

Pat is a member of WNN’s leadership team, heading its editorial group and serving as a co-editor. His award-winning journalism experience includes serving as managing editor, producer, reporter and host at Colorado Public Radio. He was a key part of the newsroom’s coverage of the Aurora theater shooting, Gold King Mine spill, Boulder flooding, and the 2014 Colorado gubernatorial debate. Before that, he served as the Radio News Director for South Dakota Public Broadcasting, overseeing its news coverage, including election coverage and a special report on the impact of methamphetamine on the state. At KTIV-TV in Sioux City, Iowa, Pat was an anchor, producer and reporter, covering stories ranging from the Pope’s visit to St. Louis to appearances by presidential candidates. His work in journalism also includes reporting for the Sioux City Journal and his hometown newspaper in Tomah, Wis. At the University of Minnesota, he was the Editor-in-Chief of The Minnesota Daily, the independent news operation on campus. He has received awards from the Colorado Broadcasters Association, state newspaper associations, and the state Associated Press as well as regional Edward R. Murrow Awards from the Radio Television Digital News Association.

Pat also has experience in strategic communication. He currently is a proposal manager for Tepa Companies, helping the company respond to requests for proposals for construction projects. He also has handled communications for the Community Action Agency of Siouxland as well as the Sanford School of Medicine and School of Public Health at the University of South Dakota. He is a graduate of the National Community Action Management Academy. Two decades ago, he served for a year as the press secretary for U.S. Rep. David Minge. While in college, he completed an internship with U.S. Rep. Bill Frenzel. His volunteer activities include serving as a judge for journalism contests, reviewing grant proposals, and helping create WNN.

In 2022, Pat moved back to Minnesota, settling in Woodbury. When he realized the community lacked a dedicated news source, he volunteered to help.
