A student reportedly brought a weapon to Woodbury’s East Ridge High School on Wednesday September 17, leading to a temporary hold on entering and exiting the building.
Administrators shared information with families, stressing that nobody was harmed and that no threats were made.
Staff, with support of our School Resource Officer, responded immediately, located the student and confiscated a 7-inch, fixed-blade knife from the student’s backpack, school sources said.
Out of an abundance of caution, a further hold was placed at the school.
A second message from East Ridge staff explained, “In order to be as thorough as possible that a weapon was not in our school today, we enlisted the assistance of the Woodbury Police Department and a (US) Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) agent with a firearm-detection dog to assist in the investigation. A canine search was conducted in every space of our school in question, and there was no evidence of firearms being present on our campus.”
The additional hold was later lifted.
