The Central Service and License Center at 1261 Woodlane Dr. opens Monday, Aug. 25, in Woodbury, at 8:30 a.m. That means the Washington County services now offered at the Woodbury Service Center, 2150 Radio Dr., will transfer to the new facility.
To make that move, the licensing services at the Woodbury Service Center will end at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 22. Residents are urged to note the location of other license centers in the county that will be open that afternoon should they have an urgent need.
Also Friday, CareerForce services, veteran services, and in-person community service appointments will be held at R.H. Stafford Library, which is across the street from the Woodbury Service Center.
The displaced services will be available at the new center beginning Monday.
To make more services available to residents of southern Washington County, the new facility will add services. Available options will include:
- Licensing services, such as motor vehicle registration, state IDs, driver’s licenses, and passports
- Human services including crisis intervention, financial support, and veteran services
- CareerForce workforce development services
- Public health clinic and Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) services
- Household medication drop box
- Election services
- Property taxes and homesteading
WIC and immunization services will begin in early September. WIC appointments can be made now by calling 651-430-6658, and immunization appointments can be made here or by calling (651) 430-4036.
A ribbon-cutting for the $29 million center will be held Tuesday, Aug. 26.
According to a news release from Washington County, sustainability was a key focus of the central service center. Residents who use the building or attend the ribbon cutting ceremony can use electric vehicle chargers in the parking lot. Sustainable elements were also incorporated in the building materials, a rooftop solar photovoltaic array, stormwater runoff design, and indoor air handling and lighting systems.
The center’s proximity to many transportation options will provide easy access for people in nearby Oakdale, Landfall, and Woodbury, and the building’s amenities will make it easy for people to get the services they need regardless of age or ability. The new building is across the street from Woodlane Drive Station Park & Ride serving the Gold Line Bus Rapid Transit line and is within the service area of the Metro micro shared ride service.
