With a state senate election scheduled for November and a primary election this month, Woodbury voters should check that their voter registration is accurate and up-to-date. Residents can check their registration and even register for the first time with the Minnesota Secretary of State’s Office.
If your registration is accurate, no actions are required. However, if you have moved, changed your name, or find an error in your registration, you can update it through the Washington County Elections Administration.
If you are not registered to vote in Woodbury you can register online. Citizens who meet these criteria can vote:
- At least 18 years old on Election Day (16 & 17 year olds can pre-register)
- A resident of Minnesota for 20 days
- Not currently incarcerated for a felony conviction
- Not under a court order that revokes your right to vote
If you prefer to register on paper, you can print out a form from this site and mail it in.
Minnesotans can also register on election day where they vote for both primary and special elections. Proof of residence is required and can be provided in several ways including:
- Valid Minnesota Driver’s License
- Picture ID and proof of address
- Registered voter from your precinct who can vouch for you
- College ID and housing list
- Notice of registration within 20 days of election
- Individuals who live in residential facilities can have their identity confirmed by a staff member
Woodbury students attending college can register as voters using either their family’s address or their college address.
Minnesota allows for no-excuse-absentee voting. This allows folks to cast ballots before primary and special elections. You can request a mail-in ballot application at this link. You will be sent a ballot with very specific instructions for completing it and returning it promptly so that your ballot can be counted.
Given how recently the special election was called by Gov. Walz, dates and locations for in-person absentee voting in Woodbury have not yet been announced by the Washington County Elections Administration.
