Take and Make: Snowflake Suncatcher, Saturday, Feb. 15, all-day event, R.H. Stafford Library, 8595 Central Park Place, Woodbury. Celebrate winter with a take and make kit to create your own snowflake suncatcher! Registration is not required. This is a take and make event, all materials will be ready for you to pick-up on Saturday, February 15 during open hours. Materials are available first-come, first-serve. Recommended for children in elementary school.
Blizzard Bash, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 15, at at Cottage Grove Ravine Regional Park 9653 Keats Ave. S., Cottage Grove, Minn. Washington County Parks is providing this opportunity to sample winter recreational activities, including free use of snowshoes and an opportunity to learn to kick-sled. Fishing for All will be on-site for a drop-in ice fishing program from 11 am – 1 pm (weather dependent). There will also be a self-guided story stroll courtesy of Washington County Library, a scavenger hunt, bonfire, arts and crafts, and food trucks on site, including D’s Kitchen and Caffe Station. This is a free event with a vehicle permit ($7 daily or $30 annually).
Sexual Exploitation: Power Over Predators, Tuesday, Feb 18, 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Public Safety Education Center, 2100 Radio Drive, Woodbury. Citizens Against Sex Trafficking (CAST) professionals will present on how parents and caregivers can identify predators; recognize the dangers and consequences of pornography and sexting; determine steps to be safe online; and develop skills to end unhealthy relationships. While the curriculum is geared toward middle and high school students, education and awareness from the important adults in a youth’s life is a strong preventative measure. Parents, caregivers, mentors and coaches of youth are encouraged to attend. Woodbury detectives and school resource officers will also take part of the presentation. This presentation is free to attend and open to all. Registration is not required, but appreciated to help us plan for the event.
STEM: Electricity and Lewis Latimer, Thursday, Feb. 20, and Sunday, Feb. 23, from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m., R.H. Stafford Library, 8595 Central Park Place, Woodbury. In this special Black History Month program, students will learn about Lewis Latimer, an inventor who helped create the first light bulbs. Then, we will explore circuitry principles to make our own light-up inventions. This program is for children ages 7 to 12, and registration is required. We will not make exceptions to the age limits to ensure the best learning experience for everyone. This program is also offered on Sunday, February 23. Please register each child only once, at whichever time best suits your schedule.

A free will offering will be taken with all proceeds going directly to support the work of our community partner, Peace Maker Minnesota.
Scout Night, Tuesday, Feb. 25, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. or 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., Public Safety Education Center, 2100 Radio Drive, Woodbury. Public Safety’s Scout Night is a great way for scouts in kindergarten through fifth grade to accomplish certain requirements for various patches or badges. Scouts tour the public safety building, get up-close looks at equipment and meet and learn from our police, EMS and fire team members. Free to attend but troops must register because space is limited.
Black History Month: Celebrating Black Arts and Culture, Thursday, Feb. 27, 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., JX Venue, 123 Second Street North Stillwater, Minn. Hosted by the Black Employee Network, an employee resource group at Washington County, the event will feature an experience of live performances to recognize the rich history and vibrant future of Black arts and culture.
Peter and the Wolf, East Metro Symphony Orchestra, Sunday, Mar. 16, at 3 p.m. at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 2499 North Helen Street, North St. Paul, Minn. Admission to this concert is free. Donations in support of the orchestra’s work in the community are always appreciated.
