Sweep Caroline and Woodbury’s other two cleverly named street sweepers are clearing the city streets from October 20 through November 7. Their efforts clearing dirt, debris, leaves and other materials from the road surface improve water quality by preventing the phosphorus in the organic matter from reaching ponds, lakes, and other tributaries.
The City plans to sweep streets multiple times and asks residents to clear the way for the sweepers by avoiding on-street parking and placing trash bins well behind the curb on pick-up day.
As a reminder, homeowners should not rake leaves and other yard waste into the street. If you are not composting in your backyard or mulching your leaves, you need to take your yard waste to the Washington County site in Forest Lake, deliver it to a commercial compost site, or arrange for a hauler to collect it.
