City officials announced Monday that the $42.3 million Central Park project’s marquee Lookout Ridge Indoor Playground is now open after a six-day pause.
Officials had hoped that Central Park would open on Oct. 1. But multiple project vendors asked for a delay because unspecified “necessary tasks” were needed to safely allow visitors into several spaces.
A month-long, phased-in soft opening for Central Park was chosen instead, with additional areas – including public seating, gathering spaces, an amphitheater and links to the YMCA and Stonecrest senior community – expected to open later in October
Lookout Ridge visitors may now enter Central Park through both the east and west entrances.
Officials also noted that Promenade Lane and Central Park Place will be repaved in upcoming weeks, so visitors might want to plan extra travel time.
A Central Park grand reopening celebration is scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 2. More details will be shared as the date gets closer.
