The community’s three-day, family-friendly festival, Woodbury Days, begins Friday at Ojibway Park. The celebration is filled with events from classic carnival attractions to live music to the grand parade. Here’s a look at what to expect each day as well as a note about biking or busing to the grounds due to limited parking.
Friday: Wienermobile Kicks Off The Fun
The festival officially opens on Friday, Aug. 22 with carnival rides and games in full swing from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. One of the day’s highlights will be the presence of the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. The 27-foot-long frankfurter on wheels will be parked at the south gate and will feature some giveaways. The slice of Americana dates back to 1936 and will offer a suitable prop for social media posts.
If the fake frankfurter makes you hungry, visit the “Taste of Woodbury” tent, featuring over 20 local food vendors from Pronto Pups to pulled pork. The evening is set to be filled with live music, including performances by Gen X Jukebox from 7:15 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. As you wander the grounds, be prepared to run into friends and neighbors. Don’t forget to visit the businesses and organizations on hand. And try your luck in the bingo tent.
Saturday: A Day of Classic Cars, Games, and Fireworks
Saturday, Aug. 23, starts early and runs late. The day kicks off with the Kowalski’s Coin Hunt on the playground for younger attendees at 9:30 a.m. for ages 2-5 and 10 a.m. for ages 6-12. The 3M Classic Cruisers Car Show will line the park’s walking paths from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., showcasing a dazzling array of vintage vehicles. The Skateboard Tournament will take place from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The excitement will build with more live music, various kids’ activities, and a Police K9 demonstration at 6:30 p.m. The night will culminate in a spectacular fireworks display at 9:30 p.m.
Sunday: The Grand Parade and Final Farewell
The festival concludes on Sunday, Aug. 24, with a focus on community traditions. The main event is the highly-anticipated Grand Parade, which starts at 11 a.m. It will travel along Commonwealth Avenue and Sherwood Road to Woodlane Drive, featuring marching bands, floats, and local organizations. After the parade, attendees can head back to Ojibway Park for the 3×3 Youth Basketball Tournament from noon to 3:30 p.m. Sunday is also the last chance to enjoy the carnival rides and games, get one last treat from the “Taste of Woodbury” tent, and grab a deal at the Business Fair before the festival officially closes at 4 p.m.
Getting to the Fun: Parking, Shuttles, and Biking
Due to ongoing construction at Woodbury High School, parking around Ojibway Park will be limited. Attendees are highly encouraged to use alternative transportation options.
A free shuttle service will be available to help with parking. It will run from Bailey Elementary School directly to the south entrance of Ojibway Park during all festival hours on Saturday and Sunday. The shuttle schedule is as follows:
- Saturday: 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.
- Sunday: 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (A special route will run from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. from Bailey Elementary to Red Rock Elementary for parade participants, before returning to the main route.)
Another option is to bike to the park. A monitored bike corral will be available at the south entrance of the park, provided by Woodbury Thrives. This is a great way to avoid traffic and parking hassles. The bike corral will be staffed during these times:
- Saturday: 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Sunday: Noon to 4 p.m.
As Woodbury Days 2025 approaches, residents are being encouraged to get their official Woodbury Days button, a small purchase that offers big rewards. The button is not just a souvenir; it’s a key to discounts, exclusive events, and a chance to win incredible prizes, all while supporting the beloved community festival.
How to Buy Your Woodbury Days Button
Admission to Woodbury Days is free, though some specific activities, particularly for children, may require a Woodbury Days Button.
Organized by an all-volunteer, non-profit council, Woodbury Days depends on button sales and sponsorships to keep the event free for everyone. By purchasing a button, you are helping to fund the carnival, live music, fireworks, and all the family-friendly attractions that make the weekend so special.
But the benefits don’t stop there. Buttons give you access to “Button Only” events, discounts on select food items in the “Taste of Woodbury” tent, and reduced prices for daily unlimited carnival ride passes.
Perhaps the most exciting benefit is the entry into the Woodbury Days Button Prize Drawing. This year’s prizes are bigger than ever, with adult prizes including gift cards to local businesses and free golf rounds. For kids, the grand prize is a Sony PlayStation 5 console, along with other fun prizes like gift certificates and a kitchen fun basket.
The 2025 Woodbury Days button can be purchased for a discounted price of $5 in advance. Buttons will also be available for $6 during the event. You can find them at Cub Foods, Jerry’s Foods, Kowalski’s Market, the Holiday Stationstore in Seasons Market, Public Lands, and Culver’s in Woodbury.
