Old mattresses are one of the most difficult things to get rid of, but Washington County is offering an end-of-summer clearance event for the bulky items. Two opportunities are available for residents to get rid of mattresses, box springs, foam mattress toppers, and crib mattresses.
With prior registration you can drop off up to four items at the Washington County Environmental Center. This option is available until September 8 or when the program reaches capacity. Residents will need to unload their clean, dry, bug-free items at the center.
Woodbury residents can also schedule curbside pick-up of mattresses, foam toppers, box springs, and metal bed frames during the month of September. Staff from Second Chance Recycling will collect the items, break them down, and recycle the components. The company offers opportunities to individuals who face barriers to employment (such as a history of incarceration) while keeping landfills free from the significant impact of old mattresses.
Schedule a drop-off or pick-up for your old lumpy mattresses today and sleep better tonight.
