A 2025 study by SmartAsset ranked Woodbury as one of the safest suburbs in the country. The financial services provider used data from the FBI, the Census Bureau and the University of Wisconsin School of Public Health to compare suburbs with over 5,000 residents located 15 to 45 minutes from a major city.
Woodbury’s ranking of 98 made it one of only 10 Minnesota suburbs to make the list of the 360 safest in the country. The other ranked communities were Eagan, Chaska, Apple Valley, Stillwater, White Bear Lake, Anoka and Maple Grove.
Scoring was based on five measures: rates of violent crime per capita, property crime per capita, drug overdoses per 100,000 people, traffic deaths per 100,000 people, and percentage of adults reporting excessive drinking.
