Join Washington County Parks on Friday, July 18, for a production of Shakespeare’s “Hamlet,” performed by the Starling Shakespeare Company.
Hosted outside the Lake Elmo Park Reserve Nordic Center, the Shakespeare on Tour event begins at 6:30 p.m. Admission is free with a vehicle permit.
The classic play follows a young prince as he grapples with the aftermath of learning incriminating information about his father’s death. It explores themes of revenge, uncertainty, madness and corruption.
Widely regarded as a foundational piece of literature, the play is brought to life by the Starling Shakespeare Company, a traveling non-profit theater group. The Lake Elmo performance is the only Minnesota appearance by this migratory troupe.
In addition, the Company will host an interactive workshop prior to the show exploring Environmentalism through the lens of Shakespeare, starting at 5 p.m. The workshop includes close readings, group discussions and creative activities. The workshop costs $20 and requires advanced registration.
To purchase a vehicle pass, visit the Washington County Parks website and find the “Permits and Passes” section. Guests are encouraged to bring camping or lawn chairs.
