WOODBURY, MN (WNN) – The Minnesota State Patrol reports that a collision between a Woodbury police squad car and an SUV on Friday caused only minor injuries.
The accident happened at about 5:10 p.m. near Radio Drive and Lake Road. The State Patrol was requested to investigate and found that the 2022 Ford Explorer squad car was headed south when it entered the intersection with its emergency equipment activated. A 2025 Mazda CX-90, heading east, struck the police car in the front passenger area.
“Both the female driver of the Mazda and the passenger of the Ford suffered possible minor injuries and were transported by ambulance to the hospital,” the Patrol said in a statement. “The driver of the Ford suffered minor injuries but was not transported. All occupants were wearing their seatbelts.”
The Patrol says Woodbury police officer Trevor Johnson, 37, was driving the squad car. Officer Luke Tashuk, 29, was a passenger in the vehicle. Seung Yeon Lee, 34, of Lake Elmo, was the driver of the Mazda.
In a statement, the Woodbury Public Safety Department said the officer in the squad car was responding to a report of a vehicle fleeing the scene of an earlier collision at the roundabout intersection of Radio Drive and Bailey Road.
“Officers in route to this crash, who were not on scene, began to respond emergently and activated their emergency lights,” according to the statement.
The Patrol indicated that the investigation remains open.
