WOODBURY, MN (WNN) – A Woodbury police officer was injured yesterday when his squad car collided with another vehicle. A woman in the other vehicle was taken to M Health Fairview Woodwinds Hospital for evaluation. The crash happened at about 5 p.m. at the intersection of Radio Drive and Lake Road.
“My goodness I hope they are okay,” a witness who was driving in the area at the time posted on social media. “I had to pull over and take a moment to calm down. I am in shock.”
In a statement, the Woodbury Public Safety Department said the officer in the squad car was responding to a report of a vehicle fleeing the scene of an earlier collision at the intersection of Radio Drive and Bailey Road.
“Officers in route to this crash, who were not on scene, began to respond emergently and activated their emergency lights,” according to the statement.
The name of the officer and female driver – and their conditions – were not released. The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating the crash.
