WOODBURY, MN (WNN) – Open Cupboard, Woodbury area’s local food shelf, is hosting its annual fundraiser on Saturday, May 3 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. What makes this year’s Fill the Cupboard gathering unique is the location. The event will be held at the heart of the nationally recognized nonprofit’s work – the new warehouse and site of the organization’s second Today’s Harvest market at 1740 Van Dyke Street in Maplewood.
“We’re thrilled to have our Fill the Cupboard event in our new space,” said Open Cupboard Executive Director Jessica Francis. “There’s something powerful about moving beyond photos—standing where the impact happens brings the mission to life. At the event, attendees will get a firsthand look at our Today’s Harvest market and join us in celebrating the meaningful difference this new site will make for our community.”
The new Today’s Harvest is an expansion of the first market operated by Open Cupboard at its main location on the Guardian Angels Church campus site in Oakdale. Both markets offer clients fresh food, produce, meat, dairy, and bakery items that are rescued each day from local grocery stores, farms, and other partners.
In addition to the two markets, Open Cupboard feeds the community with a drive-up program, delivery service for homebound folks in need, and mobile food shelves at seven senior living facilities and the Landfall and Cimarron neighborhoods. With the help of hundreds of volunteers, these programs help feed over 6,200 families each week.
Those attending the event can look forward to a night with friends featuring heavy appetizers and beer/wine from local caterers at three unique food stations. The stations will include chicken street tacos with salsas and Mexican cheese squares, a “Mashtini” bar–mashed potatoes served in a martini glass with a choice of toppings, along with tenderloin tips and crostinis, and the Egg Roll Queen’s famous egg rolls, chicken wings, and dumplings. A variety of dessert options await the guests, including mousse shots.
The evening will also include both silent and live auctions, a wine pull, tours of Today’s Harvest market, and stories of the impact of the food shelf on our neighbors. The suggested attire is dressy casual.
Tickets are $75 or $1000 for a table of eight and are available online in advance here. Those unable to attend the event in person can bid on silent auction items online here.
