WOODBURY, MN (WNN) – A sandwich or a sub is a staple food! Easy to eat on the run, you can load it up with as many toppings as your bread can hold and your hands can handle.
There is a new place in town. Port of Subs – the first one in Minnesota.
Woodbury welcomed Port of Subs last week.
The shop is located in the “restaurant alley” of Tamarack Village, next to the Indian, Mexican and sushi restaurants.
The 52 year-old entity based in Reno, Nevada.
In 2023, it was bought by Area 15 Ventures, LLC. Dave Liniger, co-founder of well known real estate company RE/MAX is the chairman of Area 15 Ventures.
At that time, Port of Subs had about 140 locations in the western United States of Nevada, California, Utah, Arizona, Idaho, Oregon and Washington.
Area 15 has aggressive expansion plans for the restaurant brand, aiming to sign up to 50 regional development agreements in the next year.
Woodbury resident, Pat Mancuso, has a deep real estate background and knew Dave Liniger well.
The new leaders at Port of Subs have plans to grow the franchise quickly.
They were looking for regional developers and Mancuso got the opportunity to become the regional developer for the franchise in Minnesota.
His daughter, Ashley Mancuso, is his VP of Operations, and together they hope to have upwards of 70 locations in Minnesota within a decade.
Mancuso highlighted some of the features: “We have digital menu boards. You can order at the register too.”
They offer 18 combinations of classic subs in four sizes: 5, 8, 12 and 24 inches. They emphasize their fresh meats and cheeses which are sliced in-store. There are many options for toppings and the subs are available in hot or cold versions. “Any sub can also be made into a salad,” added Mancuso. Wraps and breakfast sandwiches are also available.
Mancuso started his career at Burnet Realty in the early 1990s. He continued in real estate. As founder and CEO of his Mancuso Consulting Group, started in 2011, Pat helps small and medium sized businesses grow. “We help them to hire key leaders, train them to be better leaders, and help them solve their most critical issues.”
Port of Subs Grand Opening celebration will be held from April 24-27, starting with the ribbon cutting through the Woodbury Area Chamber of Commerce on Thursday, April 24 at 3pm. This will be followed by sandwich specials on Friday and Saturday.
The restaurant also supports the communities they serve. “Community Sub-Port Sunday”, will benefit Woodbury’s COLE Foundation https://thecolefoundation.com.
20 percent of Sunday April 27th sales will be donated to the foundation.
