UPDATE: As of Monday Afternoon, Woodbury Police have not said if a firearm was in fact discovered.
WOODBURY, MN (WNN) – Woodbury High School and Royal Oaks Elementary School were placed under what was called a “secure protocol” for about 30 minutes on the afternoon of Monday March 31, 2025.
A letter from Woodbury High School Principal Sarah Sorenson-Wagner said “staff received information that a student may have had a gun on school grounds today. Our staff responded immediately, located the student and worked with our School Resource Officer.”
The letter continued to say as staff were escorting the student to the office, the student exited the building and fled school grounds.
Woodbury Police tell Woodbury News Net “a wanted individual near the Woodlane Drive and Courtly Road area. The individual has been apprehended. There is no danger to the community.”
“Secure protocol” means students are brought indoors, kept inside the school, and staff verifies that all exterior doors are secured.
Principal Sorenson-Wagner continued to write, “I am grateful this situation was brought to the attention of staff so quickly. I encourage you to talk to your student about the importance of reporting any concerns they have about school to a trusted adult.”
