WOODBURY, MN & ST. PAUL, MN (WNN) – Alfonso Lee Seals, a Woodbury man, has been sentenced to more than 15-years in prison for possessing a firearm as a felon and for robbery.
In December of 2024 Seals pleaded guilty to the crimes.
There were two different incidents that led to the conviction.
Seals admitted to having a gun used in a 2023 shootout between two cars along University Avenue Northeast in Minneapolis. A gun was discovered in a crashed car that was abandoned following the shootout. Authorities were able to use DNA evidence on the gun to connect it to Seals. Seals had previously been convicted of First-Degree Aggravated Robbery and Second-Degree Assault. Those crimes made it illegal for Seals to possess any guns.
In his plea agreement, he also admitted to robbing an Oakdale Marathon gas station in 2023. Seals admitted to threatening to kill the gas station attendant while pointing a gun at his back. Seals stole $647 plus alcohol, tobacco, and vaping products.
In a news release Acting U.S. Attorney Lisa D. Kirkpatrick said, “Minnesotans should have no tolerance for armed and violent career criminals… This behavior is shocking and unacceptable. My office will continue to hold Seals—and others who would terrorize our community—accountable.”
After serving 182 months in prison, Seals will then serve three years of supervised release.
