WOODBURY, MN & MINNEAPOLIS (WNN) – The former lunch monitor, traffic guard and paraprofessional for local school districts will remain jailed while awaiting federal child pornography charges.
William Michael Haslach, 30, Maplewood, was recently interviewed by federal pretrial services. United States Magistrate Judge Douglas L. Micko wrote in court documents, “Pretrial services issued a report recommending detention, finding that Mr. Haslach presented a danger to the community.”
Judge Micko continued, “[There is] clear and convincing evidence that no condition or combination of conditions of release will reasonably assure the safety of other persons and the community if Mr. Haslach is released pending trial.”
Judge Micko concluded, “Mr. Haslach’s counsel suggested there may be conditions that could mitigate the Court’s concern for community safety, but offered no suggestions beyond the standard and mandatory conditions for this type of alleged offense… The United States has met its burden by clear and convincing evidence that Mr. Haslach is a danger to the community.”
The Federal prosecutors allege Haslach used his access to children to take non-explicit photos of children in his care. Haslach then used those images to produce morphed/AI photos of those minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct.
Haslach served as a lunch monitor and traffic guard for the North St. Paul—Maplewood—Oakdale School District (ISD 622) plus paraprofessional and youth summer programs assistant for Stillwater Area School District (ISD 834).
At last check Haslach was being held at the Sherburne County jail in Elk River.
Haslach is also facing charges in state court.
