BECKER COUNTY (WNN) – State Senator Nicole Mitchell (DFL-Woodbury) is now facing an additional charge from her alleged burglary.
She is now facing Felony “Possession of Burglary or Theft Tools” along with her prior charge of Felony “Burglary-1st Degree; Burglary-1st Deg-Occupied Dwelling”.
The additional charge was added February 10.
It was added at the same time an amended complaint was filed.
The new complaint stated a blue crowbar was discovered in a window well. The complaint reads, “[The] Victim stated that the crowbar was not hers and that she had not seen it before. The crowbar was collected and placed into evidence.”
Also new information in the amended complaint say Senator Mitchell said to one of the arresting officers, “My God my military retirement. Shoot.”
The amended complaint states the addition charges has a maximum sentence of “Up to 3 years imprisonment, a $5,000 fine, or both.”
Senate Minority Leader Mark Johnson (R-East Grand Forks) released a statement after the new charge was filed, “The circus surrounding the Senate needs to stop… We have real business to attend to: balancing a budget, addressing fraud, and putting Minnesotans First. Senate Democrats need to demonstrate that they are serious about solving problems in a bipartisan manner and do the right thing: end the sideshow and let the voters pick a new senator.”
