Coin Quest, Woodbury parks. Coins will be hidden the weeks of Jan. 13, 20 and 27 in Woodbury’s fifth annual winter medallion hunt. The individuals who find each coin will receive the original coin as a keepsake and $100 worth of gift cards to Woodbury businesses. No registration is required and the Coin Quest is open to all Woodbury residents.

Winter Constellations Star-Watch Program, Friday, Jan. 31, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., at Lake Elmo Park Reserve’s Nordic Center. Attendees will get to know constellations such as The Big Bear, Orion the Hunter, Gemini the Twins, and Taurus the Bull, and hear the stories behind them. The event will be hosted by retired WCCO meteorologist Mike Lynch, who has been hosting star-watch events and teaching astronomy for more than 50 years. The group will use large telescopes, among the largest mobile telescopes in Minnesota, for close-up views of the moon, Jupiter, star clusters, nebulae, galaxies, and other wonders in the winter skies. Participants will receive a handout package with user-friendly star maps and constellation charts, apps, websites, a telescope-buying guide, and more. Dress to be outdoors for the majority of the program. Bring a lawn chair or anything else needed for comfort. Cost is $5 per person. Children aged 6 years old and younger are free.
Woodbury Polar Plunge 2025, noon, Saturday, Feb. 8, at Carver Lake Park 3175 Century Ave. S., Woodbury. Fundraiser for Special Olympics Minnesota. The Woodbury Plunge has raised over $981,779 for Special Olympics Minnesota in its 10-year history.
Blizzard Bash, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 15, at at Cottage Grove Ravine Regional Park 9653 Keats Ave. S. in Cottage Grove. Take the opportunity to sample winter recreational activities, including free use of snowshoes and an opportunity to learn to kick-sled. Fishing for All will be on-site for a drop-in ice fishing program from 11 am – 1 pm (weather dependent). There will also be a self-guided story stroll courtesy of Washington County Library, a scavenger hunt, bonfire, arts and crafts, and food trucks on site, including D’s Kitchen and Caffe Station. This is a free event with a vehicle permit ($7 daily or $30 annually).
