A Woodbury resident and St. Paul Police Department employee faces felony drug charges after authorities reported recovering firearms and large quantities of methamphetamine, cocaine and fentanyl from his home last week.
Jamond Leroy Glass, 34, was charged Oct. 13 in Washington County District Court with one count of first-degree possession of 50 grams or more of cocaine or methamphetamine.
According to the criminal complaint, Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport police intercepted a package Oct. 10 containing a large amount of suspected methamphetamine addressed to “Kay Wilson” at a Cobble Hill Court address in Woodbury.
Investigators with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office conducted a controlled delivery of the package and executed a search warrant after observing Glass retrieve it, the complaint said.
Inside the residence, deputies reported finding 9.8 pounds of methamphetamine, 1.68 pounds of fentanyl and 10.5 grams of cocaine, along with two handguns and loaded magazines.
Glass, a civilian community engagement specialist with the St. Paul Police Department since March, was placed on leave following his arrest. His job was terminated on October 14, according to department officials.
The city’s website describes the specialists as liaisons between the community and police who work to strengthen outreach in diverse neighborhoods.
Glass posted a $50,000 bond and was released from custody the same day he appeared in court. He is scheduled to return for a hearing Dec. 1.
Glass applied for Public Defender representation on Oct. 13, according to court records. The first-degree possession charge carries a potential maximum penalty of 30 years in prison and a $1 million fine if convicted.
