WOODBURY, MN (WNN) – Reader L.M. asked: “Might someone from the Roundabout know what will eventually be done to the mound of soil piled up just south of East Ridge High School?”
The mound of soil is located at the site of the Water Treatment Plant that is under construction. Eric Searles, Woodbury’s assistant community development director, explains:
“The material on site will be both exported to other construction sites and to material storage sites for use on future projects. A good portion of the material will also be used on site as part of the final grading of the site.”
On Nov. 7, the city held a ground-breaking for the plant, which is the largest infrastructure project in Woodbury’s history. The plant is expected to cost $149.5 million, while the total project will cost $325-350 million, which includes 17 miles of pipelines and other infrastructure. The new plant will remove PFAS from groundwater wells that supply the city. The water is now being treated at temporary facilities.
