WOODBURY, MN (WNN) – Local non-profits Valley Outreach and Solid Ground have received $42,000 in Community Impact Grants from a partnership between Ideal Credit Union and Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines.
As part of its employee-led program, “Casual for a Cause,” Ideal Credit Union employees donate small sums of money each month in exchange for a casual dress code on Fridays. Each quarter, the funds raised are donated to a different charity or non-profit.
As a result of this fundraising, Valley Outreach and Solid Ground will each receive $5,000 from the Ideal Credit Union Foundation, according to the Credit Union’s press release.
Each organization will receive an additional $15,000 from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines Member Impact Fund as part of a 3:1 grant-matching program.
Valley Outreach and Solid Ground address food insecurity and housing instability.
Originally founded in 1983 as the St. Croix Valley Food Shelf, Valley Outreach has since expanded to include access to clothing and support services. It remains the only non-profit in the St. Croix Valley/Stillwater area to offer that range of services.
While Valley Outreach focuses on meeting clients’ material needs, Solid Ground helps families access safe and affordable housing. By also providing a variety of educational and training programs, Solid Ground aims to break the cycle of homelessness by providing parents and children with resources.
