Dick Krumm – a long-time Woodbury Lions Club member and architect of the Woodbury Lions Veterans Memorial – is being remembered for his commitment to Woodbury.
“I am saddened to learn of the passing of Dick Krumm. He has been a long-time supporter of Woodbury and was active in many community organizations,” Mayor Anne Burt said in a statement to WNN.
Burt highlighted Krumm’s work designing the veterans memorial. “He leaves a lasting legacy in that place where we honor all who have served our country,” she said.

The memorial on the Woodbury city hall campus will again serve as the location of a ceremony on Memorial Day to honor veterans.
In December 2007, the Woodbury Lions Memorial Council was formed to raise funds to erect a memorial. The council included the Woodbury Lions Club, Woodbury American Legion Post 501, and Woodbury VFW Post 9024.
“Dick Krumm was an instrumental part of the memorial as a local architect who published the initial rendering of the design and who chaired the council these past 10 years,” according to an American Legion Post 501 story posted online in 2018.
During Krumm’s time as a Lion, the club helped fund the Woodbury Lions Bandshell in Ojibway Park and park shelters at Powers Lake and Carver Lake. Its annual community-wide garage sale has become legendary.
Krumm joined the Lions in 1982. “A friend invited me to a meeting and it just seemed like a good fit for me and my volunteer work,” Krumm told Woodbury Magazine in 2019. “At one point I thought I might drop out when some of the older guys left, but I stuck it out and got involved in some pretty good things.”
He said he is most proud of designing the veterans memorial with “a lot of good guys.”
At last summer’s Lions Club picnic, Krumm was honored for his years of service.
